~ Veronica: Front Cover ~

I am a 34 year old single female, originally from New Jersey. I lived in New Jersey for 32 years, and now I hop around the country as a traveling nurse.

What I do is travel around the country taking jobs at different hospitals. I work for a company that fills positions when hospitals have a temporary need for a nurse, and I take my pick from what is available. So far, I have traveled to Denver, Tucson, West Hills, Fremont, and San Francisco. I like what I do because it gives me the opportunity to see places I wouldn't be able to and get to know people I would never meet. I graduated nursing school almost 4 years ago and was a surgical technologist for 8 years prior to that.

I try to do as many touristy things as I can when I am in a new location. I enjoy taking photographs of the things I see, as well as the people I meet. I have a Yamaha V-star 1100cc motorcycle that I take with me on my assignments that I refer to as my baby boy. I absolutely love being on my baby. There's a rush I get that I don't achieve with any other activity. Of course I have to have a more practical vehicle to haul my stuff around in, so I also own a Toyota Tacoma. I call him Wilbur because he's a pig when it comes to gas mileage.

I am an avid reader. I read every night before I go to sleep. And even though I work in the hospital every day, I enjoy medical shows like Forensic Files and Grey's Anatomy. I am also getting my craft on these days, as can be seen in my photo. The blanket draped across me is the one I crocheted for Heather.

I have lost more than one friend these past few years, and it has caused me to look at life a little differently. I try to enjoy the little things more, I try not to let the small stuff stress me as much (although that's hard since I'm Sicilian), and I try to keep in touch with my family and friends more often. I am overjoyed that Heather has not passed into the ranks of those who are physically gone from my life.

I met Heather a few years before I began my wandering ways. I consider her to be one of my close friends, and I feel honored to be included in this project. My hope is that this will raise awareness about Hodgkin's Lymphoma in the country, as well as some much needed funds for Heather's medical bills.
