~ FAQs: Answers To Your Questions ~

Q:Why aren't the medications covered by Heather's medical insurance?
A: Heather has medical insurance which doesn't include prescription coverage and she's paying for all prescriptions out of pocket. The medication which has kept her alive and with us is killing her financially. Additionally she has high co-pays and with her very frequent office visits, those add up fast.

Q:I saw a reference to Heather's pottery. How can I find out more?
A: Heather was unable to make pottery (due to the risk of infection from the yeast and mold in the clay) until at least 6 weeks after her chemo treatments were completed (September 2006). After that she went into radiation, and as of October 2006 she's been medically able to make pottery again, but due to space and storage constraints, Heather is currently not making pottery.

The studio she works in will be closed for remodelling over the summer, and in preparation things are being cleared out, so she has nowhere to store raw materials. She will start making pottery again in the fall of 2007. She is very sorry to disappoint anyone who was interested in purchasing pottery. Her pottery website gallery is in the process of being created and is located at: LadyGaea.com.

Q:If I wanted to send Heather well wishes, can I do that?
A:Yes. Heather can be reached at heather@limeproject.org.

Q: I want to contribute but I don't want to use PayPal. Can I send you a check or money order?
A:Please email us at order@limeproject.org and we can discuss this with you. We understand that some people have issues with using PayPal, but it was the simplest method for us to process the orders and yet have the money go directly to Heather without having to go through anyone else.

Q:Is Heather available for interviews?
A: No. In addition to needing to direct all her energy towards getting well, Heather is uncomfortable being in the spotlight. Until recently she didn't even know this project existed. We kept it a secret from her for as long as possible. We are trying to help her, not add to her stress level.

Q:I'm a member of the press, and I'd like more information. Who can I contact?
A: Please see the Press page for more information, which includes all approved contacts. Our press release is also available for download in .pdf format.

Q: Why is the goal referred to as a "soft goal"?
A: Because as of now, we don't know if Heather's tumor is actually gone. She will not have a PET scan to determine this until mid-November, and even then the total cost of treatment is not a firm number. We don't want to mislead anyone into thinking that our goal is set in stone.

Q: What happens if you raise more money than you need?
A: Heather has decided to donate all overflow monies to her local cancer center, creating a fund for people who are in the same boat she was.

Q: Where / how can I find out about the lastest news and updates on how the Lime Project is going?
A: We've set up a blog at LimeSuckers.org. Feel free to sign up for a free TypeKey account so you may comment in the blog. There is also an RSS feed available.
